NLS acc 11516/1. A rare and valuable Collection of Piobaireachd Music. / from Kintarbert.
This manuscript contains 88 tunes, selected and copied by Angus MacKay from his earlier two-volume manuscript (K1, K2, K3). He approached the Highland Society of London in 1841 with a proposal to publish a second collection of pibroch, but the Society declined. The present manuscript, like D2, appears to be a clean copy, meticulously prepared for the engravers. Roderick Cannon found that only five tunes differ significantly from K1-3 and, on the basis of these facts, proposed the date of c.1841.
