Notes on Gaelic Title
Tulach Àrd Tullochard / The MacKenzies March R; Tulloch-ard / Tullochaird K1 index. Tulloch Ard. Placename, perhaps used as a war-cry. In the old Statistical Account it is identified with a mountain in Kintail (one of what are now called the ‘Five Sisters’), and the signal for a gathering was a fire burning on the top of it. The writer mentions the tune of ‘Tulloch-ard, or Seaforth’s gathering’. See R. Morrison, ‘Parish of Kintail’, in The Statistical Account of Scotland, vol 6, No. XXIX (1791-99), p. 244.
